Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced-based treatment which has been found to be highly effective in the treatment of many psychological disorders. There are three underlying assumptions, about psychological problems or distress, in CBT:
1. Psychological distress or problems are in part based on faulty or distorted thinking.
2. Psychological distress or problems are in part based on unhelpful behavioral patterns, including avoidance.
3. People can improve their psychological problems and reduce their distress by changing their thinking and their behaviors.
In November of 2020, The Artemis Center for Guidance staff embarked on a year-long training and consultation project with the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania. Developing mastery of CBT for Anxiety Disorders and OCD has improved the accessibility of these life-changing treatments in the Southern New Jersey region. Utilizing exposure-based therapies, we are able to reduce the negative impact and the often-times disabling effects of Anxiety Disorders and OCD.
Conditions that respond well to these treatments include Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Simple Phobias and Social Anxiety Disorder.
We are now accepting new patients in our Anxiety Disorders and OCD Clinics.
